Thanks to the generosity of the family of George and Carol Dunn, the Conway School of Nursing at The Catholic University of America has established the Dunn Family Cardiac Nursing Fellowship, a unique opportunity designed to support future leaders in pediatric cardiac nursing.

The fellowship will provide scholarship support to five students in the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program who are committed to pursuing careers in pediatric cardiac nursing.

Eligible students will apply during their freshman year and, if selected, will receive scholarship support throughout their sophomore, junior, and senior years. The fellowship is intended for students who demonstrate a strong passion for caring for children with complex cardiac conditions and who are dedicated to making a lasting impact in the field.

In addition to supporting academic success, the fellowship reflects a meaningful partnership with Children’s National Hospital, one of the nation’s leading pediatric hospitals and a nationally recognized center for pediatric cardiac care.

Students selected for the Dunn Family Cardiac Nursing Fellowship will share a commitment to serving at Children’s National Hospital for at least three years following graduation, helping to strengthen the pipeline of compassionate, highly trained nurses entering this specialized area of care.

The fellowship not only eases the financial burden of nursing education, but also creates a direct pathway for aspiring nurses to pursue a career in one of the most demanding and rewarding areas of pediatric healthcare.

Through this generous gift, the Dunn family is investing in the future of nursing and in the lives of children and families who depend on exceptional cardiac care.

At the Conway School of Nursing, opportunities such as the Dunn Family Cardiac Nursing Fellowship reflect the University’s commitment to academic excellence, service, and preparing nurses to meet critical healthcare needs with skill, compassion, and purpose.
