Students in the Center for Future Faculty (CFF) at the Conway School of Nursing recently participated in a Simulation-Based Education Seminar focused on best practices for integrating simulation into nursing education.

The seminar explored evidence-based approaches to designing, facilitating, and debriefing simulation experiences to strengthen student learning, clinical judgment, and patient safety. Through the session, students gained valuable insight into how simulation can be used to prepare future nurses for real-world clinical practice.

Housed within the Conway School of Nursing at The Catholic University of America, the Center for Future Faculty prepares graduate nursing students for academic teaching roles. Led by Dr. Martha Scheckel, the program provides coursework in nursing education, faculty mentorship, and hands-on teaching experiences designed to prepare the next generation of nurse educators and help address the national nursing faculty shortage.

A distinguishing strength of the Center is its collaborative model, which includes partnerships with Trinity Washington University, Howard University, and George Washington University. These partnerships expand opportunities for students to engage in diverse teaching experiences and learn from a broad network of nursing faculty and academic leaders.

Through experiences such as the Simulation-Based Education Seminar, the Center for Future Faculty continues to equip graduate nursing students with the knowledge, teaching skills, and professional formation needed to lead in nursing education.
