Why did you choose to attend Catholic University?
Elizabeth Ulicny: Catholic University quite literally checked off every single one of my boxes. The main thing that stuck out to me was the community. Everyone that I talked to and everything I interacted with was extremely welcoming, and you could just tell that there was such a community presence here. That sense of community was something that has stuck with me throughout my experience here. The nursing program is wonderful and the campus feels like a real campus that you often don’t get when you're in the city. Also, the fact that it's Catholic and that that community would be there, and the opportunities for service and involvement, the opportunities for study abroad as well. Not a lot of nursing programs have the opportunity to study abroad, especially for a semester, as well as a Spanish healthcare certificate. Not many universities have a program the way that we have one. So, yeah, quite literally, every box was checked. What inspired you to go into nursing?
Elizabeth Ulicny: I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for a long time. And once it got time to start thinking deeply on the subject it became very evident that serving people was where the Lord was calling me. Just like, this is. This is where I'm supposed to be.Do you have a favorite class that you've taken?
Elizabeth Ulicny: Probably Pathophysiology. It was the first class that I took where I felt it was truly nursing-focused. I left that class feeling that what I learned was going to be helpful for my career. It's so interesting to learn about it, the teacher presented the information in a way that was engaging and interesting and also made you understand it. It was challenging and you had to put forth your best foot but I enjoyed it a lot. What has been your favorite memory at Catholic?
Elizabeth Ulicny: I think that service has had the biggest impact on my time at Catholic. I've gotten super involved with the campus ministry service program. I’ve been able to lead a service every week and have met some amazing friends through that. I’ve been able to take advantage of spring break trips with Habitat for Humanity and I'm hoping to go on one of those campus ministries this year. All of my favorite memories at Catholic all have to do with being involved in service here.
