Leadership Pathway for Health Systems Administration
Also, this fall we have launched a new Leadership Pathway to prepare nurses for leadership positions in nursing and health systems administration. We are the only school of nursing of which we are aware, that has two former chief nursing officers (CNOs) on the full-time faculty. Dr. Joyce Johnson served as CNO of the Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital and Dr. Mary Dixon was CNO of INOVA Alexandria Hospital, the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville and Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Tx.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Complex Healthcare Systems Administration, Directed by Dr. Mary Dixon, is a 30-credit, 4 semester online program preparing graduates for positions such as nurse manager, nurse residency leader, quality and safety leader, magnet program leader, and many more similar positions. Some courses are integrated with the Post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) to let MSN graduates move more quickly through the DNP.
Post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice: Prepares nurses for executive leadership positions such as Chief Nursing Officer of a hospital or health system, community health organizations, and primary care networks. Graduates are prepared to lead at the highest levels of these organizations.
