Elizabeth Mastoros, Catholic '23, is a Nursing major from Staten Island, NY. She shares why she chose to attend Catholic University and the Conway School of Nursing, and what advice she has for prospective students.

Why did you choose to attend Catholic University?

"I chose Catholic University because it felt like the perfect fit for me from the moment I stepped on campus. Everyone was so warm and welcoming that it made me feel right at home. The nursing program is exceptional -- combining Catholic values and groundbreaking research to train us to become compassionate nurses."

Why do you want to be a nurse?

"My journey to nursing is quite unique to me. Both of my parents are NYC civil servants and raised me and my 3 siblings with strong values of compassion and service to others. I found my passion for serving others through nursing, even though no one in my family has any medical background. Coming to Catholic University has ignited a fire within me to be the best nurse I can by serving others with respect and dignifying care."

What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?

"My favorite part about being a student at Catholic U is the campus community. On campus, we have a saying, 'home is where the dome is' in reference to the beautiful dome of the Basilica. I truly have found my home away from home and made a wonderful family of friends here at Catholic University."

What advice would you give to prospective students?

"I would tell prospective students to be authentically themselves when choosing a University...I hope they choose Catholic. Because being yourself allows you to find others who will help you be the best you can be and here at Catholic University that will help you soar to your fullest potential."
