Kaelyn Mashburn, Catholic '24, is a Nursing major from Rockville, MD. She shares why she chose to attend Catholic University and the Conway School of Nursing, and what advice she has for prospective students.
Why did you choose to attend Catholic University?
"Academics and athletics! We have an amazing Nursing program here and the option to do Spanish for Healthcare. I also play field hockey."
Why do you want to be a nurse?
"I love to help others and care for them in a time of need. I love the blend of science with evidence based practice and compassion. My grandfather was a nurse in the army so I really value and admire his contributions."
What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?
"I love playing field hockey and getting to be with my teammates doing what we love. I also love doing clinicals and being in the city."
What advice would you give to prospective students?
"College is the time to have fun and be yourself and also learn from those around you. Exploit the opportunities that you have here while you can, both socially and academically. In the end, you have to figure out what works for you and what fulfills you so don't be afraid to try new things!"
