Advancing Nursing Education Through An Innovative Population Health Framework
Martha Scheckel, Vice Dean, Associate Professor, and Director of the Center for Future Faculty, has recently co-authored a transformative publication focused on enhancing population health education for nursing students. Titled Co-Designing Cross-Curriculum Population Health Clinical Experiences: A Program Innovation Using the Intervention Wheel, the article highlights an innovative approach to clinical and academic collaboration in nursing education.
The publication introduces a novel method of integrating the public health Intervention Wheel framework into nursing curricula, aiming to improve community and public health experiences for prelicensure nursing students. By leveraging this tool, students obtain a deeper understanding of the complexities of population health nursing, better preparing them for real-world challenges.
This innovation contributes to the field of nursing education, emphasizing the importance of cross-curricular collaboration in addressing population health issues. Scheckel’s leadership at the Center for Future Faculty has been instrumental in advancing such impactful initiatives.
