Graduates of The Catholic University of America’s Conway School of Nursing are formed through the School’s Trilogy Model of nursing, grounded in human dignity, human freedom, and human flourishing. This faith-centered approach prepares nurses to serve with compassion, ethical leadership, and a lifelong commitment to the wellbeing of patients, families, and communities.

Building on this mission, the Conway School of Nursing has launched the Cabrini Scholars Program, a new workforce development initiative in partnership with Catholic Health Long Island, supported by the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Scholarship. The program Led by Dr. Mary Dixon, designed to strengthen the nursing workforce while advancing Catholic healthcare’s mission of service.

Through this initiative, five incoming first-year nursing students will be awarded scholarships totaling $76,350 per student over four years, covering university tuition and on-campus housing. The scholarship provides critical financial support, allowing students to focus fully on their academic and professional formation.

In return for this investment, Cabrini Scholars commit to returning to New York State after graduation to practice as registered nurses for a minimum of three years at one of Catholic Health Long Island’s hospitals. This commitment directly addresses nursing workforce shortages while ensuring that Catholic healthcare institutions are staffed by mission-driven, highly prepared professionals.

The Cabrini Scholars Program reflects a shared commitment between the Conway School of Nursing, Catholic Health Long Island, and the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation to create a sustainable pipeline of nurses formed in faith, leadership, and service. Together, these partners are investing in the next generation of nurses who will uphold the values of Catholic healthcare while meeting the evolving needs of communities across New York.
