WASHINGTON, D.C., September 2025 — The Conway School of Nursing at The Catholic University of America is proud to announce that several of its students have been awarded nursing student scholarships through The Washington Home’s 2025 funding initiative.

The announcement comes as part of The Washington Home’s 2025 Impact Report, which details nearly $2.1 million invested in healthcare workforce initiatives and services. This investment is designed to strengthen the region’s healthcare system and positively impact more than 29,000 Washington, D.C., residents through expanded access to wellness centers, care coordination, medical respite, dental and vision care, and scholarships for nursing and medical students

 

Funding for Catholic University

As part of its 2025 priority-area investments, The Washington Home awarded $250,000 to The Catholic University of America in the category of Critically Ill – Healthcare Access & Caregiver Relief. This funding supports the collaborative scholarship program with the Conway School of Nursing and Sibley Memorial Hospital, preparing nursing students for geriatric specialties and employment.

Conway Nursing Student Recipients

The following Conway School of Nursing students were recognized as 2025 scholarship recipients:

  • Heather Middleton — Master of Science in Nursing in Complex Healthcare Systems Administration (MSN)
  • Lisa Kirk — Master of Science in Nursing in Complex Healthcare Systems Administration (MSN)
  • Makayla Newman — Master of Science in Nursing in Complex Healthcare Systems Administration (MSN)
  • Joanna Barker — Doctor of Nursing Practice — Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP-FNP)
  • Jennifer Metayer — Doctor of Nursing Practice — Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (DNP-AGACNP)
  • Amanda Vazquez — Doctor of Nursing Practice — Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP-FNP)
