WASHINGTON, D.C., October 1, 2025 —The Conway School of Nursing at The Catholic University of America has a new reason to celebrate. U.S. News & World Report has named the School’s undergraduate nursing program one of the top programs in the nation.
The BSN program is ranked 28 out of 686 BSN programs nationwide, making it ranked in the top 5% nationally. That is a 26-spot jump in just one year. Our BSN is also the top program for the Washington, D.C., region in the rankings, tied with George Washington University.\
Marie Nolan, dean of nursing, says that, “The Catholic University of America Conway School of Nursing is a very special place. Students here receive a grounding in philosophy and theology that is unlike any other school of nursing. This enables students to ask the larger questions about life and what it means to be a human person — how nurses are healers.”
“Thanks to the generosity of Bill and Joanne Conway, we moved into one of the most scientifically advanced and beautiful new nursing buildings last year. The confluence of these scientific resources, our curriculum illuminated by the Catholic faith, and accomplished and virtuous faculty form exceptional nurse leaders in clinical nursing, nursing science, and health services administration who seek to advance the good in society,” she added.
The new building for the Conway School offers students state-of-the-art technology, including virtual reality patient-care simulations. Students also have access to a wide range of clinical and research experiences. Multiple hospitals and healthcare settings are close to campus, and students have easy access to major healthcare research entities.
Peter Kilpatrick, president of Catholic University says, “The Conway School of Nursing exemplifies what happens when we combine being boldly Catholic with being academically excellent. Our nursing program stands among the very best in the nation by every measure.”
“We educate our nurses not just as skilled practitioners, but as healers who understand the deeper meaning of human dignity and service. This is what makes Catholic University's nursing education truly exceptional and why we stand out among nursing schools across the country. We are grateful to Bill and Joanne Conway for their remarkable generosity in helping us become one of the premiere nursing schools in the country,” he added.
The Conway School offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, as well as post-doctoral certificates. Recognizing a need for excellent educators, the Center for Future Faculty offers a certificate in nursing education for professionals interested in academia.
