The Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner: Acute Care prepares nurses to lead and to lead and participate in interdisciplinary teams in delivering complex acute care to adult and elderly patients across settings including critical care, intermediate care and general inpatient care. Graduates are also prepared to manage adults with acute illness including patients dependent on technologies such as implantable cardiac defibrillators in a variety of healthcare environments outside the acute care setting. The program is grounded in respect for the profound dignity of every person and a whole person approach to care that includes the mind, body and spirit of the individual and family.
